The Lost Hero is the first novel in a the second Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan.

I really enjoyed reading this, it was light and fun, admittedly some of my more recent reading has been a bit more on the autobiographical side and therefore a bit heavy going.

This book introduces us to Jason, Piper and Leo, all of whom are demigods. They are out on a school trip when they are besieged by, to them, unknown forces. It turns out that their coach is actually a satyr who is protecting them. They are taken to Camp Half-Blood, but it just feels all wrong to Jason.

I don’t want to spoil the story so I shall stop here but I can say there is a quest with the predictable accidents giants cyclops and other gods.
