Blood Vow

So I was travelling into London today and I had to pack a second pair of shoes for the occasion which meant that the book I have almost finished couldn’t get finished as it is too big to be packed with the shoes. Instead I took Blood Vow, book 2 in The Black Dagger Legacy series, by J. R. Ward.

Straight off the bat I can tell you that this is like any other BDB book, lots of violence and sexual content, but also the nuances of human like like loss of a parent, or close family member. Struggling to make connections with another person after suffering a trauma, learning that you have to talk to people not just just to conclusions. Axewelle, Axe to his friends, is a complex character but we see him all unravelled, literally and figuratively by the beautiful, intelligent Elise. A girl after my own heart Elise did an undergraduate in Psychology and in the novel is working toward her PhD.

Another major part of this novel is the story of Rhage and his shellan Mary. After the raids they took in Lisabitte, who was orphaned. We see a story of family love, and how much a family can change and adapt as new obstacles arise.

I really enjoyed this book, I think it is one of my favourites for its storyline in all of the BDB novels, I really felt the characters emotions.
